EDIT: either the forum software is buggy or i am at my sloppiest today. The following message was an addendum to my other thread, but it has appeared separately. Excuse me please. (the following is the misplaced message, which i am unable to delete)

at the risk of making this thread into a joke, i'm going to spew forth two more of my silly ideas. Comments and abuses appreciated. Once again... choice of mics is merely indicative, i'm more interested in the approach. And yes, i know its far from where i started. And the blumlein room mics are not important at this stage... i'm more interested in capturing the natural energy of the group. All 'purist' intentions are compromised for control and efficiency... i will have some balancing options in post, and i will be wasting less of the "old dogs" time since the setup will probably remain more constant across different musicians and venues. The only value i have tried to hold on to is to keep the mics as near coincident as possible... which should hopefully result in fewer phase errors?

in the following idea, there is the pearl tl44 stereo mic in a 180 degree x/y arrangement... i guess it could be substituted with any back to back cardioids, but this is just more efficient?

thanks,
