I'm setting up a Digital Performer 3 system on an G4 Titanium laptop. As a stop gap before purchasing a USB MIDI interface, I got a Belkin USB-serial adaptor.
Haven't been able to set up my MTP II to work using this interface--anyone had any experience doing this?

I imagine I'll have to brave the endless on-hold ordeal at MOTU. Actually, since I bought my MOTU gear at Sweetwater, I can get tech support through them,, which is much faster and generally the info is just as good!
Anyone else have any experiences to share with USB to serial adaptors for MIDI?

I haven't tried it but its all going to come down to MOTU. DP has to know where to look for the interface. Sometimes MOTU's tech support is good, sometimes its crap.
Did you buy the USB to serial adapter because it was less expensive than a new interface?
