Recorded a hardcore band and the screamer was very inconsistant and his scream is a bit weak and breathy at times.
What's the best way to beef them up and make them more consistant? Compression? Delay?

Thanks for the help

Compress the shit out of it. Comp the track if you have multiple takes/the means to.

I've only worked with one hardcore band. Wouldn't do it again, unless it was for a lot of money.

With all of the bands in my area, (Buffalo NY, home of Everytime I Die and It Dies Today) I could probably have three a week, but it's just not my cup of tea.

i record mainly metal/hardcore bands for some small labels so i've tried many different things to get a big sounding screaming vocal. what microphone are you using? i used quite a few different condensers for a while but when i switched over to dynamic it made all the difference in the world. i personally recommend the shure SM7. that matched with a good quality preamp and a light amount of compression and the vocal is tight and still has some dynamics. too much compression for me and the vocal becomes a little too squashed.
