I`ve been messing around with the LA-3A from BF...i made i chain of plugs in my toms...gate>LA3A>FocusriteEQ

The problem i have is that is too dificult to me to control the level with LA 3A, so, when i like the sound the channel is make short the history, i turn down the level with the focusrite but the sound gets too low...then i have to insert the SONY oxforfd inflator to compesate...the tom sound just great...but the chain is a little too afraid my CPU gonna dump me before i finish the mix...what do think? :roll:

You could try controlling the dynamics before you hit the LA-3A by running it through a comp pre. You could let it clip if it sounds OK. David

i did something like that...i put a renassen comp just right after the LA 3A and was`s courios your advice, i thought i should avoid the clipping in any level... :roll: Thu, 10/30/2003 - 09:25

Well, yes clipping is never great, but if it doesn't bother your ears it won't bug anyone else. If your overall mix doesn't crap out the ME will never know. It could be our little secret... David

are you tracking too hot?

Hi Alècio,

Maybe i`m tracking a little hot, but never touching the red zone...what kind of experience you have with it in TDM? :)

Hi Aziel,
what do you mean experience in TDM? do you want to know which level I generally track, which plugs I use or if I have experience with BF emulations of LA2A, Pultec, etc?
I generally track between -9dB and -6dB;

I do not like the Bomb Factory emulations of LA, Pultec, Joe Meek, 1176. I have not used their new stuff yet, which seems to be prety good. However, some people claim that UA is better;

Nice weekend
