I enjoyed all the posts on the loudness topic but i one question, How do you do it! I record on Performer with good pre's, converters, mikes and are fairly happy with my mixes. Now the only equipment i have for mastering is softwear (Waves3.0 and the TC stuff). The best I found was the C4 muli comp. going to the L1 limiter.

What do all you pro's think of this preamp? I plan on purchasing a pre for my Blue Dragonfly, and I want to spend between 500 and a grand. If you can suggest other's, please do!

Where do you pro's see yourself in five years as far as recording/mixing mediums and formats? Do you feel that as conversion quality gets better and tape emulation DSP gets better that you as a pro will feel comfortable with all digital, or will you remain with a hybrid, say mixing on your favorite desk like a Neve or api like mixerman suggested?

I have a question regarding the now ancient Korg 168RC recording console.
Does anyone know if it has dither on any of it’s outputs, I know it operates at 24 bit internal resolution but I can’t find any info on the dither issue. I would also appreciate any opinions regarding any 168RC experience.

I'm about to buy a Neutrik Easy Patch 2x48 push patchbay and am not sure whether or not I should buy Bantam or 1/4". I'll be probably making like 20 patches a day if that provides some wear and tear info.

I am recording some drum tracks for my bands demo/CD project this weekend. We are using an 8track recorder, so we can only use one channel for drums. I have a Mackie 1402VLZ-Pro mixer to submix the mics and send to the recorder. It is a Boss BR8 in case you are interested. How would you mic a standard 5 piece kit in this situation?
