i need a preamp in front of my ad-converter.
ich have the rme-multiface and do the mix in my Cubase in realtime. but there is the need of a analog-like headroom like from a mackie-console. direct converted it sounds not so fat espescially the bass-sounds.
i need it mainly for my synth so not a mic preamp and 8 chanels.

Can someone explain the whole balanced/unbalanced thing to me? I don't think I'm quite understanding it. What is balanced? What is unbalanced? What is each type of connection used for?

I have a question about RAM:

Is all RAM of the same type the same? Will one store's brand of a 512k stick of DDR 333 RAM be the same as anothers or are there other factors beyond the 333?

I have a problem that I don't know how to solve.
I run the Emagic EXSP-sampleplayer in Cubase SX.
When I put in AKAI-CD's to convert to EXP-files the EXSP won't "see" any CD at all... it keep saying "waiting for CD".
So my question is, what can be wrong?

Guess a lot of topics like this is posted on the board but I hope someone got the time to help me out a bit.

the Matrox Parhelia fan is a racket compare to my quiet PSU, Zalman CPU fan and hard-drives.

has anybody tried to replace it?

I have ingested volumes of information over the past 5 years (no wise cracks about it only being 5 years please). And now I've come to the point of just having to ask this question.

Since DIY is gone, I'm not sure where to post this.

Where would one find the information they need to build your own DAW? I'm not sure I'd really want to tackle that job, but it would be fun to explore it a little.

Also, who makes the best dedicated DAWs and who has the best value in a DAW?
