I have read a lot of your posts on here as well as many others'. I have read how you feel about "prosumer" gear being 80% as good as pro, therefore good enough for "demo quality". I have also read your opinion on spending the money where it makes the most difference.

Im just trying to figure out since Logic,Cubase etc. already have a mixing desk what is the purpose and if any advatages of having a mixing board such as the Mackie 24?

I am new to all this stuff but I would like to include midi and synth setups in my home studio so that I can learn and then earn. Any ideas as to what type of setup I should get that won't clean me out but will carry me for a reasonable time would be terrific..

I have heard more than one audiophile talk about playing loud music through headphones for a few days to "break them in", thereby making them sound better. Sounds interesting but unbelievable. Any comments?

People are always talking about monster cable making thier speakers sound better. Whats the deal?

Grateful thanks for any help or insight on this matter ! I just built my own DAW system, AMD 1.7 ghz XP, SiS chipset, Win 98SE, Soundblaster Live!, Tascam US-428 (for 24 bit audio). The really annoying problem I am having is that there seems to be electonic noise "seemingly" coming from the computer into my mixer(similar to the little zipping noise you get when you move the mouse).

Asus more reliable then I guess the writers of EQ MAG DON'T NO WHAT THERE SAYING .I AGREE ASUS HAS MORE OPTIONS FOR THE BIOS!But that spells a lot more option for confrontation between all other elements in the computer chain .And I must admit the chips they use are of cheaper variety on the motherboard it self.

My unit is 3 weeks back-ordered.
Any here use this unit or care to share your thoughts and experiences?
