I'm interested in getting a Focusrite red 8 for my drum over heads. I have a set of 414's as well as a pair of 4050's. I'd love to try with it. It seems like a good choice from the research I've done but, I cant seem to find anyone I can talk to that has actually used one for this application. anyone have any oppinions on the red 8 ...???

I've used the RED 1 many times. The red 8 is exactly the same, just a 2 channel version.
The Red 1 sounds very good on many applications. I would describe it as clear and smooth. It really shines on overs and acoustic guitar.

Red 8...???

I've used the Red-8 many times for OH and in other apps with the AT 4050, AKG 414 & 451, SM57 and 421. Very good mutipurpose mic pre.
