You're right, I do it by hand all the time.. Or better even, record it over and over to get it right..
but with a customer on a budget, Vocalign seems interesting.
Hey guys I thought I should post a video to make the invitation to participate in the mastering exercise.
So here it is, in case you'd want to watch it ;)
Nice ambiance, can't wait to hear vocals on it.
The only thing, there is very long parts of open hi-hat, I would switch to a ride at some places for variations..
Thanks for sharing !
Anything works with protools, big studios have ssl, neve and whatever other brand of mixers..
Sell it to me, I'm looking for one.. ;)
Yes I feel it's a mistake because its design is what? 20 years old and the mixer itself doesn't offer anything special sonicly.. You know some mojo of a neve or...
If you want advice, you should ask before doing any moves..
I check the Control 24 some in good shape run used for around 3k
At that price you can find brand new digital mixers including interface fonctions.. Under warranty and far more interesting in every aspect...
For exemple this one ...
I'm in studio now.. another thing I hear is that the way you panned and leveled the mono overheads isn't very natural. Usually we would keep the levels and panning so the snare is still in the middle. Or maybe your overhead mics weren't at the same distance from the snare ??
Nice song and perfo...
As I see it, you would not even need a mixer.. Unless it was a very musically sounding board, like a neve or SSL or Audient.. but that Mackie isn't going to sound better than the inboard preamps of the Scarlett.
Also replacing the Mackie by an outdated 003 isn't going to cut with me.
If you...
There is a few ways to go at it.
What I would do is create different mixes and then assign each mix to the different output pairs..
So in the end you could add different inputs and different levels within those mixes to control what goes to your amps..
On the image you see different mixes then...
Welcome the RO
I'm on earbuds right now but I do agree that high frequencies are a bit aggressive and the energy in the mids are kind of lost. I'd like to have more presence on the electric/disto sound.
I will listen to it in my studio tonight and let you know if I detect something else or if...
You are allowed to do anything, of course, the subject is mastering, I'd be surprised to receive a remix with different groove and all.. but having fun while learning is the goal here.. ;)
I'm going to do my version this weekend and post it here.
I think I'm going to wait another week to make my video..
The versions are all good.. when I gather them, I'm going to listen to them on different systems and compare them..
Like I said, not to say what's good or not, just to check the...
No I didn't record it.. I did the mixing for my Youtube channel.
Anyone can download the RAW tracks here :
Human Radio - 'You & Me & The Radio' Pop/Rock Downloaded here : https://www.cambridge-mt.com/ms/mtk/
In a few weeks I'll gather all the versions in a video and try to compare them.. My goal is not to say if one is right or wrong but just to note the differences.. ;)
Of course comments written here are welcome, I can incorporate them to the video..
Hi gang,
A few weeks ago I posted a series of 3 videos of me mixing a song on my youtube channel.
I've been suggested to make the mix accessible so anyone can do a mastering of it as an exercise and to compare our shops.
Here are the files, either in 48khz or 96khz, just choose your favorite...
