Emu 1212m 1616m or PreSonus Firebox

Member for

I am recording with the PreSonus Firebox and it sounds decent. I am sort of coming to the conclusion that AD converters contribute more to a truly professional sound than a preamp or mic once you overcome a certain ultra budget level. Basically, the first component I might want to upgrade are my converters and then go from there. Emu coverters seem to be of a higher quality than the Firebox. Emu boasts that their converters in the 1212m and 1616m are the same as the ones used in a $1,700 MOTU device.

HELP WITH EMU1212M PLEASE!

I am running WinXP SP3, Pentium 4 2.4Ghz 1.75G RAM - I just recently purchased and installed a EMU 1212m and the Patchmix mixer for the 1212m - all drivers and everything installed everything fine except for two things...

BTW before i proceed.. Connecting to my L & R INPUT on the 1212m is the L & R Main Outputs of my UBB1002 Eurorack - And I have Active Studio Montiors (Samson - Media ONE 4a) connected to my L&R output..

HeyI got a E-MU 1212m for free from my brother.
Now Im struggling how to use it.
I installed it properly, and installed the newest drivers.
What I'm trying to do is to plug in my guitar in the big (the one step bigger than 3.5mm jack) Left channel jack.

In this picture its the first one in the part under.

And then record the sound and edit etc... so basically I'm trying to make music with it.

S/PDIF problem with E-MU 1212m HELP!

I'm trying to connect my dbx 386 tube preamp to my E-MU 1212m sound card using S/PDIF. I've bought the proper cable to use and connected it from the dbx 386 S/PDIF out to the 1212m's S/PDIF in. I've messed with the session settings in the 1212m's Patchmix, but I still can't get any sound on my computer to come in from the S/PDIF in. What am I doing wrong that I can't get it to work? Or, what haven't I done to make it work? Thanks for the help.

XLR for E-Mu 1212m card

Hi everyone. I have a E-Mu 1212m card installed in my computer. I am fairly new at recording my music. My question is.. the sound card does not have an XLR connection on it and I am a little confused on what kind of cable is needed for a mic connection. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Mike

Need help deciding b/w Lynx L22 and E-mu 1212m

I am thinking of buying a card for my PC to use with Ableton Live and have been looking at the Lynx L22 and the E-mu 1212m.
Both apparently have the same AD to DA converters and the E-mu has midi and a few other extras that the Lynx does not have, eg on board DSP and is half the price.

Has anyone had the opportunity to compare the two cards or had an experience with either?

Recording via Emu 1212m vs. Onyx Firewire I/O

Hi. Great forum! I have a question, TIA for any help/advice... :D

Situation: Currently I am running studioflex balanced XLR-1/4" cables from my Onyx 1220 mixer into the audio inputs of an Emu 1212m. And then balanced 1/4"-XLR studio flex cables from the Emu 1212m audio outputs to a pair of Event TR8 active monitors. I have an opportunity to buy the firewire I/O add-on for my Onyx 1220 mixer and eliminate the Emu.

I need help setting up my Emu 1212M patchmix software

I want to add an EQ to the main output of my Patchmix software. Anyone know how to do it? I think the 1212M card has its own effects engine with EQ. is that right? Basically I want my WAVE & ASIO to go through an eq before it hits my monitors.

thanks in advance
