Hello recording gurus. I've decided to re-build my recording studio. I was initially a PC guy and decided to convert to a MAC. Due to financial setbacks, I'm limited to purchase an older mac. I've came across both a G5 dual 2.3 ghz, 250 gb, and 3.5 gb RAM for $180. Seller used the platform for mixing electronica music. He has pro tools and logic preinstalled.

I've been using a Tascam porta one studio for several years just as a writing tool but would like to begin improving quality of vocals. can anyone suggest a good vocal mic for recording?

ok so i started recording with my 16 track multitrack recorder and am loving in, but now i wanna step into the computer age. i wonder if its possible to get a laptop in the 350-450 range that will have ample power for what I'm looking for. i really dont think ill need to record more than 4 things at once, and probably won't ever have more than 16 tracks playing at a time.

I am working on some vocal harmonies for a composition, and my friend brought to my attention Blink 182's Feeling This. In the song there is a 4 (or 5 not sure) part vocal harmony on the last chorus of the song. I am wondering how they achieved the sound from pretty much 2:29 on. It sounds like two of the vocal parts are very punchy or something (quantisizing?) I am not sure.

My band is wanting to record our debut album this summer in a professional studio environment. We've written all original material and plan to tighten up our songs as much as possible in the coming months. I have a few questions that I hope some of you may be able to answer.

Ive been looking to pick up the FocusRite ISA One classic, and am feeling pretty good about it, but I was wondering if there are any other mic preamps in this price range that can rival it or top it. It will be for vocals, not instruments at this point so Im looking for a quality preamp in this price range that can bring a microphone to life so to speak...
