In need of some advice

When mixing my projects, the overall quality sounds great. But when i bounce it out, it seems like its being over compressed and i am losing the dynamics to the mix. Everything gets really quiet and fuzzy. I have tried different bit ratios and i can't really tell a difference in them. I loose the punch of the kick drum and the snare drum and the vocals seem to duck under the mix.

Need advice on a basic recording rig.

I'm interesting in purchasing a beginner recording setup (nothing professional, just to be able to record a few songs.) I've never done anything like this before and I'm a total novice when it comes to recording so I'm seeking a package that will allow me to record in a relatively easy fashion, provide a relatively basic editing software, and create drum tracks with a simple drum machine.

Need Advice on Micing My Acoustic Guitar

I've asked for advice here before on this but this is slightly different. I have a low end Ibanez acoustic with preamp and have been Micing it with an AT3035 (the done away with version of the 2035 from what I understand). I've been recording straight into my Firestudio with the Ibanez' preamp plus recording a few inches from the 3035 with the mic being in between the 12th fret and sound hole.

Advice on this gear

Hello everybody,

I'd need your opinion on these microphones, sound card and preamps I'll have at my disposal for a while:

AKG 414
2x RODE NT5
SPL Channel One Pre-Amp
SPL Gain Station
Fireface 400 (RME)

Can they assure a good standard of recording? I am going to record mostly a violin.

Thank you in advance.

Best,

x
