What's the best way to lock the mpc to the Alesis?

Ok, so I'm trying to upgrade my beat/music making and I'm looking at the Akai MPC. Mainly I want to make rap beats. I know that the standard is the 2000, but any opinions about the 1000, 2500, or 4000? Maybe ditch the MPC and get something different like a Korg Triton? Maybe get a used 2000 and something else with it.

i have been recommended to use the AKAI MPC, and i have looked them up and they seem to be a bit on the expensive side for me (as a student) does anyone know where i can get a cheap (in working order) one or another drum machine of the same/simular specs?

I am looking for anyone who can help with this machince:AKai DPS12i. I am trying to apply compression for vocal using the internal effects. Yes, I know that outboard compression is better, but my funds are extremely limited. The manual states that you are able to apply effects to a track while applying an instert effect.

can anyone help me set up my S2000 with mesa. Mesa won't find my S2000 via scsi. I know my card is working properly. But mesa keeps shutting down when looking for my sampler. Has anyone got this same set up working? Are there other ways to feed wav. files to my S2000 via scsi.

In the 70's 80's and 90's I used The Linn Drum and Akai's MPC series for drums in most songs. Most Top 40 I listened to back then used programmed drums with midi.
Why? Once you appreciate how simple and, IMO great quality samples sound in pop music, it is really hard to look back. All I can say is, thank you to Roger Linn.

Any good suggestions for hardware machines for making good hard beats and deep bass for hip hop ? What are anyones thoughts/experiances with rolands mc909? is it worth it for small time production @ home? thanks.

I have a four track Akai GX 630D SS reel-to-reel tape machine, and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me anything about it? I'm running a small studio and was considering incorporating it into the setup as quite a feww locals like the analog sound...in fact some of them are die hards for it which is fair enough.

There should be a program that's able to import audio from the DR4 via SCSI.

has anyone ever used or heard anything about AKAI 1730D SS? I bought this reel-to-reel unit at a yard sale for $5. It's in pretty good condition, so I'm wondering if there's any possiblity to sell it, I'll never use it.
