Unbalanced/Balanced Mixer Connections

I have a Peavey PV14 mixer that I am trying to incorporate into my mix/match home setup. I have some questions regarding balanced/unbalanced ins and outs. I would like to run either my control room or main outs (1/4" TRS L/R) to a basic home stereo receiver as a cheap/easy way to power some 100-150W speakers.

Home studio - Balanced or unbalanced patchbay?

I am not new to recording, but I am just getting around to setting up my first semi-pro home studio. A few pieces of equipment that I have had for a while (compressor, interface, mixer) -- as well as a new headphone amp and effects box -- use balanced cables for some aux patches.

Help ! All Unbalanced Outputs Yamaha RM 2408

I just recently bought an old Yamaha RM 2408 board that I just realized has all unbalanced outputs. I want to go to a patchbay from the board but I'm not sure if I should get tranformers for every output to switch to balanced or if it matters .

I'm eventually going into a digi 002.

There's also a patchbaybuilt into the board with Aux sends/returns and Inserts. All unbalanced.

Total newb question re balanced/unbalanced

First let me just say I've been reading this board for the past hour, and although I understand these things (balanced, unbalanced, XLR, TS, TLS, etc.) a LOT more than I did when I woke up this morning, I still have a question regarding my own equipment and if the setup I have will work or not.
