How much ISO do I need?
Ill try to make this short.
My wife and I just moved into our new build house. I am wanting to construct a home studio in the basement that can later be a nice man cave and/or home theater for the next buyers.
I read through Rod Garvais' book, and it seems a little over my head, but there are good points that I could take away from it.

Dimensions and ideas for multi purpose recording studio's
I'm going to build a multi purpose studio on 5 acres in a location where there is little outside noise to be overly concerned about. I'm in the country, on a very private lake where the sound of nature is actually something I would rather hear as a natural ambience (maybe I am onto something lol)!
Fire Safety - and studios
Just reading one of the topics on a basement studio and something suddenly came into my head. Safety.

Do we need to spend thousands of dollars on recording gear or software?
When it comes right down to good sound, the mix and master, I personally believe I can get by on most basic DAW platform with good to excellent preamps and conversion.
That fact that I use and discuss excellent gear is because its available to me, and because its also a passion of interest.
Mixing Critique
hi.. fairly new to mixing and mastering. Check out my mix and let me know what I can improve on. FYI, artist brought a YouTube beat to the session and didn't have wav files so it was a little hard for me to get all vox takes to sit in the mix so I fear it'll be either to loud or to soft compared to the beat. regardless let me know! Feedback is essential in my opinion. Thanks

#10 AWG (2 conductor) vs. . #12 AWG (4 conductor) Speaker Wire
Hey guys, I'm doing some wiring specs (exciting right ? Lol) and I'm completely unsure of what to go with.
It's speaker wire for a cinema setup. The surrounds, and the Screen Channel speakers accept up to 10awg wire with barrier strip screw terminals. The reference speakers and subs are on speakin NL-8 connectors which accept up to 12awg wire.
