Building a pro studio- Need a little bit of help...
I am building a new studio with some partners and they put me in charge of the DAW and overall recording set-up. I have decided that I want to run Cubase 4 (since I know it in and out) on a custom built PC. There are many more details, but I don't think I need to list out the whole thing for my question.
how to master you mixes
Hey guys, i'm just now starting to get into recording and stuff of that nature, I'm now taking the next step and getting serious and i know it is a stupid thing to ask, however, i know what mastering IS but i dont know how to do it!
i've recorded with my band twice at a local studio (Seconds to september) so i know what mastering does and what its used for.

To pursue or not to pursue
So I'm thinking of starting my own recording studio in the future, but want to know where to start. I have a musical background (classically trained pianist) until college at which point I stopped competing professionally and majored in business/sociology and ultimately became a paralegal.

Ideas for recording space?
So I live in this really noisy apartment building. I moved to this new city (Yellowknife, NT) of about 20,000 that is quite isolated from anywhere else. As far as I can tell, there aren't a lot of recording services up here. There is one studio, but he has a reputation for not calling people back!

Electrical wiring in my control room
So I've been working on constructing my basement home studio (I live in Canada) for a while now, adding layers of gypsum to the underside of the upstairs floor between the joists, backer rodding, caulking, etc. I am at the point where I have added as much mass as I'm prepared to add to the ceiling and sealed everything off to the best of my ability.

getting a new house built...any suggestions?
well my wife and i might buy a house that is in the beginning stages of being built. the contractor said that if we decide to go with it, we can customize the layout...etc. that being said, i was planing on using the basement as my studio. i was looking for some advice as far as what i can have done to make this room best suited for recording/playing music.

Best method for recording a band - a track at a time!
Egad.. I've done the 'one-man-band' recording thing and it's not a problem (guitar, bass, keyboard, octapad drums). But now I'm trying to do a quick recording on the cheap with 3 other band members.
Decent Active Monitors. .any suggestions? (I'm new here)
