Where does the LINEOUT signal come from in the amp chain?
working on my "stage computer" setup as described in ProAudio (and duely ignored...). Have an old practice amp (several) with a LINE OUT.
Where exactly in the chain is that signal coming from? Is it out at LineLevel?
real question is this- can i use the amp as a simple clean PREAMP before I send it to my soundcard from the LineOut?
Getting vocal to sit in the mix
I recently recorded a friend's band in my home studio. Acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums and vocals. The peformances were good, and I am pretty happy with the sound of everything. We are mixing it now, and the comment I keep getting is that the vocal does not seem to "sit" in the mix like commercial recordings.

How much gear is enough?
Since day one of the inception of my recording company, I haven't been fortunate enough to actually pay myself on dime. Yeah, I take myself out to dinner on the company and every once in a while buy my wife flowers on the company dime, but other than that, every penny goes into buying gear.

Getting an internship
Ok, I am 18 years old and just started getting into recording in December 2003. I don't know if this is what I want to do with my life, but so far I really enjoy all the aspects of recording.

Let's talk...security.
Any tips? Any stories? We've all got lots of money just sitting around waiting to show up in a pawn shop/ebay/wherever. Not to mention the personal security issues. I admit to always being a little nervous around new clients.
