Grounding issue with laptop power cable/guitar
Hi,
I have a macbook pro laptop and my audio interface is the Apogee Duet 2. Whenever I plug my guitars into the Apogeeinterface I've got a hum going on. I can get rid of the hum if I take out my laptops power cable however I then have an issue of the laptop overloading frequently (not running at full capacity without power cable) and running out of battery without the power cable.
Nano Piano line level and cables
I wasn't sure where to put this as the Nano is a synth.
I'm trying to find out if the Nano Piano can take balanced cables, and and if not, would it be better to use consumer or -10 line level as the hardware input level for my sound card?

Yes, The Quality Of Your Cables Does Matter
I've recently been asked by several of my clients (I make part of my living working as a consultant to home studios) if cables really matter in the grand picture. I thought I'd share those thoughts here.
My answer is yes, it matters. It matters a lot.

Cables With One Ferrite
If a cable has only one ferrite, does it matter which end it's on?
Specifically, I'm referring to a FireWire cable connecting a computer and audio interface.
Theoretically, it would apply to any cable.

Plugging in DIN cable
Duh. I have always been afraid of 5-pin DINS. I'm trying to plugin the male end of a cable into a female connector at the base of a mic (congrats to me: I commissioned a Neumann U47 replica, and it is awesome.) I'm sure the pins are straight and I managed to plug it in last night. But today, still difficult. Any tips? This has plagued me for years.

Zoom H4n compatible with USB 28/24 cable?
Hi, this is my first post here. I hope you guys will bear with me and my probably very silly questions to you!
I have a Zoom H4n and I've lost its mini-USB cable. I'm trying to find a replacement and came across the 28/24 awg cable, which I had never heard of before...

MADI cable 50/125 µm vs. 62.5 µm
I'm migrating to MADI.
I just bought a used MADI HDSPe interface with no cable. Digging through my nest of cable, I tried toslink and monster fiber cable but it doesn't work. So, I've been doing some research on what cable to buy and learning the differences.
RME MADI requires either 50/125 µm and 62.5 µm

Mytek and Focusrite World Clock. Sync via S/PDIF vs. BNC cable ?
So I just topped my credit card again, to buy a Mytek ADC 96
My plan is to connect my Focusrite ISA two to the Mytek, then the mytek to my Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 via spdif.
I also have a Octopre which is connected to the saffire 56 via ADAT.
I read the Mytek has a good clock so I want it as the master clock.
