I have a M-16DX digital mixer/interface I want to record with. It has 16 balanced line ins (4 with mic preamps).
I plan to buy a Nady PRA-8 to add some more mic preamps, and an 8-pack of short 1/4" cables. I hear it does have balanced outs, but the distances are short anyway. Should I go TS or TRS 1/4" cables? I want to maximize flexibility of things I can connect with them.

while I was cruising the web tonight, in addition to cringing at the piracy thread, I came across three different kinds of Blue microphone cables, which ironically are also red and green. I was just curious as to what the difference is, since I need to spend some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket.

I don't know what is the best way to hook up all this gear ( mostly midi ) to use with Logic 8.

I would really appreciate it someone would could provide a best plugin set up for this gear when it comes to MIDI.

hey guys, I'm new here and was having problems w/ a mic i just bought... its a nady sp1 mic that i got w/ the nady sp1 mic/stand package from musician's friend-- to test it out, i plugged it in to the Planet Waves XLR to 1/4 adapter and put that into the line in of my Crate amp...

I'm sure this has been discussed before... but a search yielded no results! Even googling didn't help me out... so I need some advice:

I would like to make my own cables. What recommendations do you have for quality cable and connectors. I need to make balanced 1/4 to 1/4 and XLR, as well as instrument cables. I want quality but have a limited budget.

Hi there. I have a small project studio and right now I am using cheaper XLR cables. The two I am currently using are a Shure cable that came with my SM57 and some other cheap cable that came with a small microphone package.

My main question is how much of a difference would it make If I used one of these Shure cables compared to an expensive Monster or Mogami cable?

I connect my PreSonus firepod to my powerbook via firewire, of course. The way my desk is setup though, it's a bit of an inconvenience with the firewire cord only being about 3 feet long. Just wondering, if i went up to an 8 foot or so firewire cable, will i experience any negative side effects?
