ok my good friend preached to me about cables recently. now i know that you're sound is only as good as your weakest link.. so he told me about "MONSTER 1000" cables. told me how different frequencies travel at different speeds and how they clutter eachother up by the time they reach the other end.

How much high frequency loss will there be with good 50 ft mic cables. (I.e. monster, live wire, mogami). Is it enough to worry about? THANKS.

ok, so it seems that from what I have been reading that Monster Cables are not really worth the extra cost. Can you guys give me some advice on good quality cables that won't break the bank? Thanks!

I am looking for 30' cables and the studio only comes in 25' Will there be that much of a difference. Or is there a better option?

Is a TRS balanced cable the same as a 1/4" stereo cable that you can buy at Radio Shack? When I asked the people in the local Radio Shack, and in our local music store, that I wanted a TRS balanced cable, they looked at me blankly.

I want to make sure they are the same...don't want to blow anything up! :(

This forum has been a great help to me, so I would like to ask you guys a question again. I am planing to buy bulk cables and bunch of Neutirks connectors. Mogami is kind of too much of the price. Is Belden good enough for home-studio? If so, which model could be great? What would be the other alternatives?

According to Sound on Sound magazine, it's quite customary for "high-end " gear to have UNbalanced outputs. ?

I don't know if that is true, but I recently got a nice Millennia NSEQ-2 and it has balanced inputs and unbalanced outputs.

So, should I use balanced cables in, and unbalanced cables out ?

This is probably one of the most overlooked aspects of a recording setup by a newbie. myself included.

Right now all my cables are either Livewire, Hosa, or generic no name cables that you see coiled around mic stands for $9 at GC.
