Litz wire
Ive been searching the forum, trying to read up on litz wire. who's the expert here on this stuff? Ive got a transformer which I think is a reichenbach which is similar in size to a 2503 and somewhat reminiscient in sound as well.

star quad cables?
I was reading an article about Micing choirs and the writer advised that normal 3 prong XLR cables were insufficient for live recordings due to length of run and height of microphones. The danger was picking up radio broadcasts with suspended or elevated mics. He advised that only star quad cables be used - 4 conductors plus a braided shield.

Anyone have any experience with ZAOLLA cables?
Anyone here ever use Zaolla cables? I hear they are quite good, but then some people say you don't need to spend that much and they aren't any better than Mogami, just hype. I'd like to hear if anyone has actual experience with using them though!
Long cable runs for DI
I'm trying to think of how to get DI bass from the live room to the control room without such a long run at instrument-level. I think it's pretty clear that the bass sounds better when it's in the control room getting plugged straight into a preamp with a 10-ft cable or whatever.

Cables & 1/4 in. Stereo Jacks
How many folks solder their own cables? I do some soldering at work which gives me a little advantage and plan to reconstruct my studios' entire wiring. I'd like to get some insight from a few "Pros" because I'm new to using a patchbay. Actually, I think I need a couple of patchbays for that matter.

Auxilliary cables
Hi all,
I have a really silly question, and I'm actually quite suprised that i don't know the answer to this, but perhaps i am not alone.
I have an allen & heath zone 62 mixer, on the back i have booth out, record out, main mix out, etc... and of course "Aux Out".
Now, i know most equipment (audio and video?) comes equipped with these "Aux Outputs".

Patchbays & D-I-Y wiring/cables
I plan to install a few patchbays so I can route/patch my gear and signals better. I'd like to see if it would be worth the time to "build" this network of wiring or maybe spend a little more and purchase everything altogether. I currently patch everything from the board. I know this is'nt the thing to do, but the budget back then was'nt up to par like it is nowadays. Time for change.

cables
Allright, I replaced my cables with mogami due mostly by posts I read at this forum. I did notice recordings I made earlier now seem brighter. For instance, the high hats and cymbals are much more defined and the guitars have more high-endnow. I havn't tried recording any new tracks yet, but the monitors seemed to open up.

Cables (Mogami, Neutrik, Hosa)
Hello everyone,
Quick question... after reading some post I decided to order some cable (Mogami 2549) and connectors (Neutrik NP3C) to build my own... so, I did and when I tried one out by inserting a RNC into a RNP... it didn't sound very good... sounded lofi and a *tiny* bit crackly...
