Another Cable question.
I was looking for some good XLR cables. I talked to my friend who works at a studio, and he says that I should buy whatever I need for MY studio, and then spend all the left over money on cables, because it's important to have nice cables. I was just wondering what all you guys like to use. I'm pretty open as far as price range goes.

Cable Company Greed
Looks like Time Warner is calculating a new model to suck more cash out of users of cable modems. Other monopolies ( like Cablevision, what I use), will probably follow suit. I don't know how it would affect musicians.

Raw materials for cables
I have been wanting to make my own cables and have found various guides on the net describing how to do so, but I do not know where to purchase the raw materials -- connectors and cable. Can anyone point me to a reputable store on the net or in the San Fransisco / Bay Area? Thank you.

Good quality hype-free cables?
Hello all,
Any sources for high-quality cables without the hype? In my area all I can get is Monster Cables- they primp and preen and write you a resume but they don't even tell you what gauge the copper is!
I'm thinking good solid mechanical connections, fat ample copper, and best of all, sounds great! Is it this simple or what should I know?

Opinions Needed, part 2: How good do your cables need to
I actually have very good 1/4 inch shielded audio cables for my synths. However, some companies manufacture (very expensive) 24K gold tipped 1/4 inch cables, boasting superior audio quality transfer and extra protection from outside distorting elements.
Word clock cable length?
Hi.
OK, I am getting a Lucid Genx-6, to use as a word clock source for two PC's running hammerfalls, a Yamaha AW4416, and external converters.
My question is, should all the cables from the Genx-6 be the same length (in which case they would all have to be 3 metres), or can I have different lengths varying from 50cm or 1 metre, up to three metres?
thanks

coiling power cables?
I seem to have heard somewhere that coiling or otherwise bundling power cables up is a bad idea. Is this true?
I haven't been doing this, but none of my power cables exactly match the tiny space I have for them (i.e. they're all too friggin long), and they are starting to look like a plate of spaghetti.
