Help With Learning Calibration Procedure For 1/2" 8 Tracks.
Hello, I recently acquired two 1/2", 8 track machines - a Tascam TSR-8 and a Tascam 38. Both are in very good condition.
I own a de-magnetizer and I know the heads will have to be de-magnetized occasionally as well as cleaning of the metal and rubber moving parts in the tape path.

Calibrating DAW without mixer
Hi all,
I'm running a mixerless setup (straight from mic preamps to audio interface) and want to calibrate the whole system. I'm basically aiming so that I'm running the pre in it's most comfortable zone, i.e. not pushing it too hard, while aiming for peaks of -12dbfs to the converters. What is the easiest way to set this up?

Level Calibration
I am looking for guidance with regards to the calibration process I should use with all my hardware gear (DA, compressor, eq, AD).
What are the standards, how do I measure the output levels, how do I make sure that the level reference point is the same for all boxes?
