Room for another 1176 clone?
Looks like (now berringer owned) Klark Technic has produced an 1176 clone. Priced $600 its in line with other mass produced clone gear.
IMHO it's insulting to both KT and 1176 that this thing is out. Having not heard it or used it I can't comment on its quality or authenticity. To me it's just a way to grab some kids cash.

Fixing UA La-610 Compressor (need schematics with voltage points)
Hi guys,
Like the title says, I got one of my two LA-610 who doesn't compress anymore.. the action faded over a few months.
I tried to change the tubes and even exchanged the opto cell with the other LA-610 and it did no good.
So I guess a cap or a resistor failed.. I'd need some guidance and some precise schematics
Thanks in advance.
ART Pro VLA II Compressor - Any good?
I have been thinking about adding an OB compressor to the rack recently, and, being on a budget I have come across the ART Pro VLA II. This thing seems to get a good wrap for the price, and general concensus in regards to feedback is they sound better when the standard stock chinese-made tubes are replaced with Mullard 12ax7 tubes.

Dynamic use of a compressor
Hi fellows,
I was just wondering if anyone use or tried this technique I'm thinking about for several days now.
Maybe it's a common thing but my brain just figured that possibility by itself lately !
Many agree that a bit of compression on the master-bus will glue your mix but what if you want to keep more of the level changes of the song from verse to chorus etc..?

Golden Age Audio 73 pre and 54 compressor
GA is a Swiss company, they have two products that may be of interest to those who would like to have external pre's and compressors in which to front load their signal:

dbx 266XL
How can you tell if theres too much signal going into a dbx 266XL? There doesn't appear to be any input meter like you have on other brands of compressor.
Thanks.

MixBus - which Harrison compressor are you using?
Kurt...
Which Harrison compressor are you using, either for individual tracks, and/or for the 2-bus?
Or are you using something other than the stock Mixbus Compressor?
Just curious... :)
1176 Black and Blue
I have an idea that might be crazy. I've been considering building an 1176 clone, in part for the experience. I was leaning towards a Rev D, as consensus seems to be that it sounds the best. On the other hand, I would be building a compressor for its character. Shouldn't I be building a Rev A, since it has the most?
