Is this compressor clean enough, without artifacts for compressor/limiting with grand piano recording?

I am just wondering is it worth to spend money on driverack or spend money on acoustic treatment of my room.My room is very small(2,5mx3,5mx2,1m)and not treat at ALL.
So can it really adapt my monitoring system in relation with my room?

Does anybody on here have anything good to say about the dbx Quantum II (preferably owner, users) I've been wanting to buy one for a while but, I can't really find out any good info. anywhere. I tried the T.C. unit and just did'nt think it was all that. any opinionswould be greatfully appriciated. . .

Anybody got any referals for the repair of my dbx160VU?

I seem to lose lots of gain in the middle of takes.
My chain is the usual mic preamp>eq>compressor>recorder input.

Am pretty sure its the 160 as the gain loss never happens when I'm using another compressor.

I'm still using a DDP as my main compressor/limiter. I've had this thing for about 5 years now and have not had any problems. And I know there's others that'll make it look as if you're using this thing like a Alesis 3630. What I'm wondering is, will I need to upgrade to a better compressor or have an additional compressor added? My other's are software based.

according to some reviews that i have been reading here i decided to sell my dbx 586 dual vacuum tube preamp that i used as main preamp for recording vocals...

as i have heard, there are better ones out there for the same money...

so which one up to a max of 700 bucks would you recommend ?

Is there a post on the dbx 160SL compressor/limiter? I saw one advertised and was surprised on the specs that were given. Is this a dud or workhorse? And does it shine in any particular area such as "great on vocals" or it "handles that kick drum" & etc. Any opinions?

Could you suggest something here? I have to make a CD from tape for commercial release. It's classical piano. The original tape was recorded using dbx noise reduction :roll: , so after decoding all quiet passages have kinda poooofs--you know what I mean. Is there any way to get of rid of that?

I have a line on a used dbx 586 two channel tube preamp.
Anyone have any experience with this unit?
Is it a halfway descent tube pre?

Hi! If this idea is already on paper, gimme a credit. If not, I think it would be pretty cool.
Why and wouldn't be cool to have a dbx TDM bundle including dbx 166, 163, 160x, 902's etc etc?
