Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 - playback pitch, tempo of guitar is distorted

Hello,

I am using cakewalk home studio 2002 to record my guitar through a microphone that is plugged directly into the sound card in back of my pc and there is some sort of problem because when I play the track back the pitch and tempo of the guitar is distorted. I recorded a short 50 second track and made it into an mp3 file so you can hear what I am talking about.

Fireport (hd24) to PC - distortion

I am transferring files using the Alesis fireport to a pc. I am previewing the tracks right in Alesis' fst program and am experiencing digital distortion (clicks while music is playing) on every track. Is this a sound card or sampling problem? What could it be? I remember these exact tracks transferring fine when I used the ethernet connection.

thanks for the help in advance

Limiting causing distortion help

Hi there all,

I've come across this problem before but resolved it. I've purchased a new card since and it's returned and i can't remember how i fixed it lol.

Anyways...

I mix my project in Cubase sx 3 and have done a mixdown on it to move it for mastering.

When i get down to the final process, *the limiting* i get horrible crackling and distortion.

Recording Distorted Guitar

Hey it's me again. Anyways I was recording the distorted guitar parts for my friend's band and I couldn't seem to get it to sound right. It sounds too distorted and like there is too much high frequency. The mic is placed about an inch away from the amp, I'm using an Audix dynamic mic to record. We are using a metal zone but the distortion is turned down almost all the way.

Synth sounds fuzzy/distorted

I've been experimenting with recording for a while now. I connect my keyboard to my interface with an instrument cable and it sounds fine. However, it only sounds good with that keyboard, I tried recording with my Micro Korg Synth/Vocoder and it sounds slightly fuzzy and a bit distorted. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it might be the input(output?) I'm recording it through.

I've distortion on a few songs using a limiter

Forums

I am mastering my own album and after 2 test runs I have discovered distortion on a few songs, even though it never goes about -0.1db. I think this is because I may have gone a little bit over the top with the limiter in an attempt to get things sounding loud. I didn't realise that when the file is squared off in places (extreme limiting) it is distorted!
