Mixing Drums - Digital vs. . Digital through Analog
Has any found that drums mixed all digital either directly in a DAW or through a digital console don't quite have the impact of going out the D/A's to an analog console. When mixing drums all digital I find then to have to much realness and not enough impact for rock and roll. Do you find the same thing?
luck with drums in small rooms?
Anyone have any sort of luck? I've read Julian's posts on other boards about the distressed mic outside the door. How big is your room and is it really dead? Is a somewhat triangular shaped room really bad? I'm just trying to get some sort of ideas, I'm sick of just having one big room for everything.

Phat Drums...API 3124...Jules?
Hi Jules,
I like alternative rock, and I see lot's of posts by you diggin the API 3124 for phating up drums.
Currently I use a UA 2-610 for OH's, and four channels of my Digimax for kick, snare, rack & floor.
If I got the API to replace the Digimax, how would you distribute the API and 2-610 around my six mic kit?

Are we Micing drums wrong with common techniques?
There's a concept at work out there, that if you think about it, makes some sense. At least to me it does.
Fuller Drums
Hey, it's me again with another quick question. I sample this kick from my roland mc307 to my mpc but what can i do to make the kick come through fuller in my mix with more thump and emotion...it sounds flat. I sampled a kick and snare that i tweeked with in Fruity Loops. That kick and snare sound hard, their clear, and they raddle my speakers... I'm lacking that from my 307 sample.

Boring drums
I get decent drum sounds now but nothing with a particular "sound". I dont have any high-end gear so I'm not going for perfection just something that sounds cool. Anyone heard Refused, shape of punk to come record? Here's what I have now. (spider or something similar is coming hopefully by febuary)

Creating original sounds and signature drums
Creating original sequences isn't the problem nor is sampling because i prefer original music. My question is how to create sounds that are MINE and noone elses. A couple of producer from my area (Timbaland and The Neptunes) have their own signature sound and it didn't take me very long to learn that their sounds don'g come from thousand dollar boxes like the roland mc-307 or mophatt.
