From RME Fireface 800 to RME Fireface UFX

Hey gang !

I'm super exited to now own a brand new RME fireface UFX. Yes the one that is discontinued.
I found it at a fair price and since I was still running my Fireface 800 fine, I guessed the UFX would be a nice upgrade (with a the dsp and 2 extra input ports) Being discontinued doesn't worry me a bit because RME has been one of the best to make new drivers or firmwares when ever necessary, even for older units.

Old RME fireface 800 used, is it worth it ?

Like some already know I have some troubles with my interface and I'm checking to change it
I was to wait for the new PreSonus studio 192 but I just saw an add for a FF800 at 1k, seems to be clean.

IS the 800 worth it even after all those years or should I go for the PreSonus.. ?

Alesis HD24XR, Fireface 800, track, mix, monitor

Looking to get some help regarding my setup. I currently have an HD24XR, the digital outs are connected to the digital ins of the RME and so are the Ins. Total Mix controls the RME. I want to be able to record onto the hd24. When its full. transfer the tracks to reaper and mix.
Issues I have.
The RME Fireface 800 has only 16 digital ins and outs but the HD24 has 24 digital ins and outs.
Right now I have 17 to 24 analog outs to the 8 analog ins of the RME to monitor.

FF800 & Stereo Headphone Sends

This is a problem I've been troublesooting for some time.
I'm trying to get sends that contain stereo mixes.
Sometimes the clients get one ear, which can be remedied by plugging any balanced cable in part-way. But it's not stereo.
There's been a host of other issues, most of which I've solved.

The mixes of the FF800/TotalMix are routed to Analog Outs 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+8, and 9+10.
I use 1+2 for CR monitors, and the remaining pairs for headphone mixes.

I about to replace my old Delta 66 with a more decent and professional device. As mentioned in the thread Steinberg MR816CSX, RME Fireface 800 and Focusrite Sapphire Pro 40 are on my list but I am having a hard time to decide which one would suit me better. Besides sound of course, integration into Cubase 6 is something to consider as well as latency. I alomost made a fundamental decision to go for firewire devices, as my PCIe slots are either used (UAD) or unavailable (hidden by a larger graphics card).

RME Fireface 800 Troubles

Well, for the second time in less than a year, my FF800 took a dump on me.
What's wrong? The red "Host" light never extinguishes, and the computer cannot recognize the unit. Effectively rendering it DEAD.

The first time it happened, the retailer replaced my B-stock unit w/ a new one, minus the upcharge. That was nice, minus the 2 week turnaround.

Both times, it was at session start - session canceled, no work done.
