Does temperature make a difference with hard drive prformnc?

I just moved my studio downstairs into a room that's temperature usually is pretty low. I would say around 55-60 degrees. I have noticed that my system has been overloading much more then before. I noticed the external hard drive is cold in temperature when I feel it. Could that be causing my system to overload?

10,000 RPM hard drive vs. 7,500 RPM hard drive

Does it make a big difference? I have an macbook but can only have 2 gigs of ram. That is the max the laptop can have. I have a 250gig 7500 rpm hard drive. I am running Logic 7, synthogy piano, and want to buy ocean way drums but scared as my system already gets overloaded sometimes. If I buy a 10,000 rpm hard drive will it solve my problems or will it not make a significant difference?

External Hard Drive (Pro Tools 7.4)

I am very new to Pro Tools as of yesterday. I am running Pro Tools LE 7.4 on a new laptop. I am looking for someone that would kindly list out some External Harddtives that I can make a choice from for Recording and Playing Back Audio. I am using a Digidesign 003 Rack Factory. I know that I need 7200 RPM with an NTFS file system for Vista Ultimate.

pro tools recording onto ext hard drive?

Hi everybody. right now I'm running Pro Tools m-powered 7.3 on my intel macbook. I want to buy a USB external hard drive with 7200rpm to increase recording performance and the number of tracks i can record. It says on Digidesign website that PT does not support recording onto an external HD (Digidesign says a lot of stuff though).

Firewire or USB hard drive for recording

Hi all. I've used Logic 7.0, with a PowerBook G4 1.33 Ghz (1.25 Gb RAM) for the past two+ years to do some simple recording, usually 1 - 2 tracks at a time, maybe a total of 10 -12 tracks when complete. I've used an external firewire hard drive (Lacie 7200 rpm, 250 Gb) with no problems. I've used both USB (Lexicon) and Firewire (Firepod) audio interfaces.
