I know the new intel imacs are not currently compatibility as it states on digidesigns site. I am wondering if I should buy this new imac with the possiblility that it will be compatible shortly. I only do basic recording and mixing but I don't want to give it up. What do you all think? Will it be compatible someday?

Ok guys. I got a few Mac gift cards for Christmas from my girlfriend's family because they are sick of hearing me bitch about my PC always being messed up.

While this might seem like a no-brainer type of question, I wish it were that simple.

Basically, I am someone who has been a PC boy for the past 6 years and am planning to make the jump to Mac very soon.

Something strange with the new ImaC G5 & the Edirol FA-101...
Just received the new Imac 10.4.2, Garage Band ver.2.0.2(50), and PB is my FA101 is only available in Itunes, not in GB. Actually FA101 appears, but in grey and is not select-able in Garageband's prefs.
I have a message sayin "FA 101... different from 44,1. ." I tried to change sample rate, but nothing better..

One time i asked on this board why my Logic Express were having some trouble with only 5-6 tracks... the answer was that if I was only using the buit-in soundcard of previous iMac G4 computer, it was the cause because a so small soundcard would not be powerful enough to do pro audio - the i got my Firepod soundcard with pro.

I am a high school senior, and in one year's time I will be going off to college majoring in sound recording technology. The school doesn't have any requirements for the type of computer students use, and I am exploring my options. I have not yet decided if I want a PC or a Mac, but I am not looking for help deciding between the two.

what do you think about minimac for real-time audio apps like ableton?

Hello, I'm new on the board. I would appreciate if someone could give me some helpful advice on a descision I'm trying to make. I'd like to hear some opinons from owners of both the imac G5 (or any G4 or G5 owner) and PC's. What would better suit the following purposes: film scoring, Reason 2.5, recording/sequencing (cubase/protools). Thank you.
