What buffer size should I set my hard drive too ? should I also leave the NTFS format or change it to Fat32 ?

My M-Audio Keystation 49e just arrived in the mail today. I have an extensive background in audio recording technology, but this is my first step into the world of MIDI.

I am new to the home-recording game. I have immediately run into a latency issue with my Tascam 122 USB interface - when I overdub on an imported beat or the rhythm track, the latency factor seems to be around 120 ms. Actually, it seems to be early / faster by 120 ms so I have to increase the time location on that track. I have two questions:

I've noticed a funny thing
just to do a test with a random software (in this case, any from Native Instruments) setting my soundcard to operate at 48Khz will produce a latency of "X", setting it to 96Khz will produce a latency of "X/2" (half...), and setting it to 192Khz will produce a gorgeus 1ms latency.

I'm a newbie on this site and have some serious latency issue with M-audio ozonic: the reason I put a post here is that I already wrote to M-audio support several times without getting 1 answer, even in different langauges!(but I'll keep trying)

Hi, I have a Dell Latitude P4 2.0ghz with 512 ram. I use a Hercules 16/12 firewire sound card with it.

For testing purposes i used the Cubase software that came with it. The first track records fine, but when i go to add a second track playing along with it, it will record fine but it is out of sync.

I used the hardware to monitor everything.

I use an Apogee Mini-Me which has great converter but the latency is awful.

Using it with guitar rig, even when putting the lateny to 5ms it is much more!
And after playing a while it is even getting worse! Interresting?

I have Sonar3, the Behringer 1204 mixer, the audiophile2496 soundcard, an m audio midi controller and Behringer monitors.
When i record my guitar, i plug it directly into my mixer.
1)One of the problems i have is that, after i record my guitar, the play back is slower and has vibrations and pops.
