Mic preamp -> S/PDIF -> Mbox2 = 4 mic inputs on Mbox2?

Forums

Hi.
I don't know much about digital signals and stuff. I just realized my Mbox 2 has 4 inputs, the 2 mic preamps and a 2 channel S/PDIF thingy (?). Am I right? So, is there a piece of hardware that lets me hook up two microphones, and send the signal via S/PDIF to my Mbox 2, so I can record from four microphones at the same time to seperate channels?

Mbox2 power up problems

I bought an Mbox2 today and unable to get it to power up off my NEW ibook G4 (1.42ghz). went back to Guitar Center and they were unable to power up off thier NEW pwerbook (1.67 ghz). both laptops had Pro Tools 6.9.2 installed.
THEN we hooked it up to thier imac G4 desktop, without any Pro Tools installed, and it powered up! what's going on? :-?

MBox 2 vs M-Audio Firewire 410

I just bought a powerbook so I could have a portable DAW setup. I'm going for a system that I can compose & track on, PT is a must and stereo mic inputs are a must. But here's my problem. I think the Bmox 2 looks like turd, and it's just the old Mbox with MIDI connections added. So I'm looking into getting M-Powered instead of LE, it seems I can get more for less that way.

PreSonus firebox, mbox2, maudio 1814 firewire, or emu 1616M?

Hi I am new to the forum, just to give you a small background on myself, I live in Caracas, Venezuela, I am an electronic engeneering student, and I have been playing bass guitar for almost 10 years, and i am 24 years old. I will really apreciate all the help that you could give me since I am kind of new to the recording stuff.

Mbox 2 is here. . Zzzzzzzzz.

All I can say is...

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Mbox 2? More like POS 2!

MIDI and DI does not an innovation make. Keeping it stuck at 48kHz doesn't help either. What a rip-off.

And it is ugly as hell. I'm glad I still have the original design.

I really thought it would be more like the Saffire. Looks like Focusrite will be getting my money instead.
