2 mics cab Micing techniques ? ( u87 and sm57 ) Dustbro ?
ok i m Micing a 4x12 cab with a sm57 Micing the center of the cone, and read that a u87 at the edge of the cone is quiet good for taking low end as a second mic, but there is my question how far from the cab do i put the u87, in which direction, what type of capture do i choose ?
Rock Revival Drum Kit mic technique
I recently read about this technique and gave it a try on the last album i did. It turned out FANTASTIC. Basicly it is a way to pepper in a lo-fi vibe to a otherwise crisp hi-fi drumkit... its a common trend with the rock revial bands like: the strokes, killers, franz f., etc.

Daniel Lanois mic technique?
G'day eh.
I've been listening to Emmy Lou Harris, Wrecking Ball lately, and there is something Daniel Lanois does to that vocal that is just...different. There's a gentle 'edge' to it that is truly compelling, and that I miss as soon as I plugin the next disc, whomever it might be.

O.H. Mic techniques
I use for the O.Hs (the last year) a Neumann Stereo Mic (SM 69 fet) and ofcourse X/Y.
What you think about that?
By the way I didn' t notice a diskution for X/Y mic technique. Nobody loves it?
In some Studios I saw 3 Mics for the O.Hs L/R and one in the middle.

Close mic techniques on drums
Hey guys and gals. I just wanted some opinions on close mic techniques for drums. Most people I talk to that run little project studios generally mic their drums with a snare mic, kick mic, couple over heads, maybe some tom mics, maybe a room mic, etc.

Experimenting with mic techniques on a guitar amp
Could anyone tell me if Micing a cabnet with lets say 2 mics (in this case 1 dynamic & 1 condenser), would it yield any substantial sonic results? Also with such a setup, would it be wise to set the EQ for each mic to a different setting or not a all? And finally, after all of this, would going to dedicated pre's be better than going to the cabinet or doing both be better?
