Live Micing tips
I hopefully just got a gig doing a recording of a persons 60th birthday; oddly enough, and was wondering two things. for one, what do you think they expect and for two what mic placement tips would you give so I could catch a hold of everything.
By the way, there is no PA involved.

Micing a strings quartet ?
In the next days, I have to record a strings quartet formed of two violins, an alto violin, and a cello.
I'm going to use two condenser mics (Beringher B1, and Tascam LD-74 made by MXL) in a Tascam USL-122. I don't have too many choices with the mics. I also posted on Audio ProGear forum, because I plan to buy two tube preamp for that (VBT-1, or ART V3, or TubePre).

Snare Micing question
If you mic the top and bottom of a snare, should one of the mics have the phase inverted?
does it effect the phase depending on where the two mics are placed/ pointed?
thanks.

double Micing a voice
hi, I had this idea for recording vocals that some of you must tried varients of.
one mic clean, say a condensor (for me RODE Classic) through a clean pre (Quad 8) subtle compression if at all.
then the other mic thick and heavy, maybe an SM57 through my Altec 1567 mixer cranked up, then Altec 438c compressor also cranked.

Micing Drums with 2 SM58s
Hey everyone, I recently spent all my money on a MacBook and a Firepod, and I need to wait a bit to get some mics. The only things I have available to me at the moment are 2 SM58s and 2 passive whirlwind DI. Soon I hope to upgrade to RODE NT5s.
