mixing instruments and vocals seperately
hey guys what are your thoughts on having the person mix the music different to the person mixing the vocals.
i have listened to my music so much that it has lost all meaning although i know exactly how i want my vocals to sound.

Order of effects on vocals when mixing?
After youve recorded vocal tracks with proper microphone placement/technique and gain adjustments/levels, what should I apply first? I usually stick with EQ with high pass/low cut filter, compression, and a few delays n chorus here n there track by track.

what will mixing my song do to my vocals and overall song?
Working on a rap album...I recorded my vocals the other day and everything sounds pretty good. My engineer suggests I get the song mixed and mastered.
Help with mixing vocals
Ok, so I recorded a song for my band, but the vocals, in my opinion, don't fit in very well with the rest of the mix.. I don't know its hard to explain, but here, listen to the song and please let me know what I need to improve on. Thanks!

Mixing Backing Vocals
Hello Everyone,
I have been trying to find out how to make backing vox sound as if they were sorrounding me. I hear it in a lot of hip hop tracks and i would like to do the same to pop, r&b and gospel songs. My question is how can i make the backing vox seem as if the are coming literally out of the speakers and sitting in front of my face. Like as if the sound was in 3D.

mixing vocals
i was wondering how do engineers get that "in front of your face" sound on vocalists. i am currently mixing down a friend of mine that did a rap on one of my beats. i compressed his track a bit, then sent it to two aux tracks to one panned left and one panned right and slightly lowered the level. any other tips or advice you can give me please!

naff mixing desk for live use on vocals
I have been asked to mix a load of hardcore/metal bands at a local live music venue however their in house guy isn't there. As such iv been banned from touching the in house sound desk. He has set up an input to the power amps so can plugin my mixing desk (its beringher 1222fX). The preamps of this desk are pants and ruin vocals.

Mixing vocals question
I am mixing 8 vocals and need to add a bit of reverb for room ambiance. Is there an sonic difference between mixing the vocals to a submaster and then applying the reverb, or applying the reverb to each vocal individually and then mixing them down?
Thanks for any thoughts...

Mixing mics for vocals?
So, I've been recording long enough at this point to realize the pros and cons of dynamic and condenser mics. Perhaps the most frustrating thing to me is recording vocals: I really like the sound of a condenser, but I just do not have the money to drop on a condenser mic that actually works well for vocals.
