Some help with mixing vocals and guitars?
Can some one help me with getting a good mix out of Cubase SE? I'm using that and the MOTU 868 mkII and it works great for recording but I just can't seem to get it mixed down to sound "good".
I was wondering if there was anyone with experience out there, that I could send the file to, and have you put a the effects and everything to it, and then let me know what you did?

mixing vocals
I've noticed that a lot of rap music (and I realize it's probably across the board), the vocals are commonly mixed such that they are very up front, with the kick and snare just punching through the vocals. the rest of the music is just behind the vocals - from a balance perspective.

mixing vocals
hi.
i'm a little stuck in the way i mix vocals (r&b and pop).
i record the main voice plus the harmonic 2nd and 3rd voice.
the main voice i pan middle at 0dB
the 2nd voice i pan -30 at -7dB
the 3rd voice i pan +30 at -7dB
now i compress all that and put some effect on it (reverb or delay)...

Exactly aligning vocals with the beat in the mixing proc
I'm a 17yr old guy who produces rap beats/instrumentals and is trying to get involved in recording. So my "studio" is just my computer and a mic I bought at radioshack. I'm not trying to hit professional quality, but the closest thing to it...
