Snare reverb mixing question
How many of you send the snare track to a stereo reverb, send the reverb to a different bus and mix it in with the dry snare track and how many of you send a reverb to a mono aux and just add as much (or as little) reverb directly the dry snare itself? What seems to work better? Or is it, like most things, a case by case deal? Just curious...Thanks.

mixing for clubs
Hi - Can you advise me on mixing for house/RnB music that may be played in clubs. - I am living in fear that if one of my tracks gets played in a club it will sound wimpy .
I have some Genelec 1029+ sub moniters and i'm going to treat my room with some bass traps.

Where does mixing stop and mastering begin
DISCLAIMER:
OK, my project is low end, low budget. I am doing this for a buddy in exchange for his help on another project. This is the first thing I have recorded and engineered and mixed and I am doing it all in our new home studio. However, I want to do as good of a job as I can...

console for surround mixing
what the best bet in terms of a mixer for a surround setup. also, price is a consideration. we were thinking of the 02R 96, or the DM2000. There's also a Sony dmx board.
however, i'm slightly hesitant of the A/D D/A of the Yamaha. the Sony board is a bit more expensive and has some problems with plugins and DAW integration-- so I heard.

which compressor is better for tracking or mixing?
Which compressor is better for tracking or mixing between the teletronix la2a, avalon(any compressor), urei 1176, dbx Quantum II, fairchild 670-660, manley(any), drawmers? I do understand that each instrument or vocals may require a different compressor for better results...but which one is the most consistant between the ones I named :D ?

Basic tips to start mixing
I wanted to know what were some basic tips to start mixing. Why and where by how many degrees to pan certain instruments. What EQ should do and be mainly used for and when is it really neccissary. I'm sure the best way to learn all this is experience and an internship at a professional studio wouldnt hurt, but I was hoping you guys could give me some starting points.
