what's neededADAT XT into computer for mixing
Hello, I am computer stupid. I have several recordings done with my ADATXT. What GOOD QUALITY hardware and software do I need to to hook my ADAT XT to my Gateway computer so I can get the recordings in the computer, add effects including compression and burn to CD without much complication. Thanks, Don
mixing on PT systems
hi,
I`d like to know how many engineers out there are mixing on Protools(no external desk, only PT mixing) - does anybody knows any records ( maybe even well known ones) mixed on PT?
what are the pros and cons of PT mixing?

Pro Mixing Tricks!
When I was a kid in this business, (not too long ago!), one of the coolest things was to be able to watch a big shot mixer do some cool trick on a mix and then later try it out myself. Having said that, I thought I'd start a thread about mixing TRICKS that are cool. I'll start.

delays with plugins in pro-tools mixing
hi,
I`ve got a TDM mix system and was wondering whats the best way to deal with the delays you get in a mix on pro-tools (about 4 to 50 ms I think)
Do I have to use TimeAdjuster or not? What about drums, having different plugins on different tracks?
:w:

Atmospheric samples when mixing
All,
I've looked on the web, but have had trouble finding what I'm looking for. Basically I'm mixing a song and want to add the sound of the ocean/beach (waves, seagulls, etc) at the beginning and end, but I really don't want to go to the beach to record it myself. I probably need at least 10-15 seconds before and after the song.

Mixing better bass
Any body have any tips on carving out a nice, tight, punchy bottom end during Mastering? Is it a function of EQ? Multi-band compression? Both? Something else?
Also, regarding M/B Compression:
How do different attack/release settings affect the different freq. bands?
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Tracking and Mixing Demotion?
Ok, who did you guys piss off? In the good old days this forum used to be listed high on the Pro Talk menu, right up there next to Fletcher, and now it's buried among the (shudder) guitars and basses? In a moment of panic I thought it had been discontinued!

Mixing for vinyl
Almost everything I do these days ends up on both vinyl and CD. As I was never part of the vinyl mixing gereration first time around, I don't think I'm fully aware of everything I need to be for the format. Like:
- Don't hard pan or have out of phase bass (makes the needle jump)
- Pay heaps of attention to sibilants (these will distort)
