Ive had 8" BX8a M-audio's for about 3 years now and theyre about 3' from my normal mixing position. My mixes dont translate well..the pic below shows now acoustic treatment behind the monitors but there is some there now and throught the room.

I'm just taking my first steps into the world of recording and am about to buy some monitors. Could you all give me some advice?

I have a fairly well put together studio with a couple of pairs of small monitors, but occasionally I like to crank up a song. (to impress myself as well as clients and friends) What do you use or suggest for large monitors. I haven't put much thought into a budget, mainly because I'm not sure of pricing on bigger monitors.

First time purchasing a studio monitors.

I have seen that (in the paper) the main difference is the range of frequencies they can play.

Examples:

1) Mackie HS624MK2: 45 Hz - 6 Khz
2) Mackie MR5: 60 Hz - 20 Khz (± 3dB)
2) Yamaha HS80M: 42 Hz - 20 Khz (-10 dB)

What does this numbers really mean?

question ! i have a mac and a pc . my pc is hooked up to a m audio interface and my mac to the duet and my krk rokit speakers are hooked up to my mac with XLR cables . Now if i hook up my maudio inter face to the speakers in the TRS 1/4 cable area and have the duet plugged in to the XLR cables at the same time will i be able to to use both computers with the same sppeakers ?

Just got a shiny red pair of KRK Rokit G2 6s, but I don't have an interface yet so I tried to connect them directly to my Mac Pro. They came with male/male TRS cables so I picked up a couple of TRS to 1/8" converters and used an 1/8" Y connector I had lying around to plug them into the line out port in back, and then changed the sound settings to send sound output to the line out port.

Hi my name is Pablo and I'm building a home studio to start recording the demos of my band, and everything is going well except for the monitors, we don't have them and We don't have money, ( we spent a lot with the PA. ), so I'm thinking

So i have been reading and i have seen people say to just save up and get a nice pair of monitors that you can use for several years down the road. What is the prince range that will get me those "monitors" they are talking about?
