Monotosis or Stereosis
My question for everyone w/ any experience (opinions) When you mix a song in a DAW do you keep the tracks mono or create stereo single tracks? I have been mixing w/ all stereo tracks by creating stereo image wave files. So basically I go through all the tracks of the song make them stereo mixdowns and some light processing.

S/PDIF 2 mono sources to one stereo input?
Hey guys I just joined the forums. Right now I'm doing Cubase based recording using a firepod. Recently we bought two M-Audio Tampa preamps for the studio (which btw sound amazing) and they each have a mono S/PDIF digital output.

Stereo and Mono Channels
Are stereo channels considered single channels on a mixing board or is each stereo channel equal to 2 mono channels?
In other words, if a mixer has 40 channels total with 4 of the channels stereo would it be a 36 x 4 or a 32 x 4?

stereo vs. . mono micing
I recorded a group of people singing a Christmas carol last season. I used 2 mics (L and R). The person that did this with me recommended setting each mic to a stereo channel. What's the advantage of that vs a mono track for each mic?
I just don't get it :?

Stereo vs. . Mono when recording rap vocals
Hi there,
I would like to know whether there's any difference between recording rap vocals in a stereo track versus recording it in a mono track. I record my rap vocals in mono tracks for no particular reason. Should i be doing it stereo?
