As several of you know, I'm in the market for a new firewire recording interface.

Two Options I'm Considering:

i'm trying to connect my Mackie onyx 800r to my digi003. i just bought both of these units last week. i've read the manual, and as far as i can tell, i'm connecting everything correctly. the Mackie says it's locked to the 003. i think my problem is the ADAT cable. i've never used one, so i don't know how to connect it exactly.

Just thought I'd pass this along. I just picked up the Onyx Satellite at Guitar Center for $170. I don't know if it's like this at every GC, but all of them were being closed out at our local GC.

If I decided to not get the Fireface 400 and got the Mackie Onyx + some mics instead, would there be anything in the Mackie that I could use in a few years, when I upgraded all my stuff? Are the pre's THAT good, or only very good "for the money", or only good "for live"?

Its been a long time since I've posted anything here, but if I remember correctly, you guys are full of good information.

I have a Mackie Onyx 1640 and I want to upgrade:more channels, something less sterile sounding, I want to record at least at 92/24 with no less than 16 tracking simultaneously, and must have firewire or USB. Price range $3000-$3500 new.

I was looking at two MOTU HD192, would that be a good choice? Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated!

hey, I recently have been looking to upgrade my converter. i currently have a MOTU 2408mk3. talking to the great guys at sweet water they have suggested 3 cards to me. the Apogee rosetta 800, the Mackie Onyx 1200f, and the MOTU 192hd. all are within my budget but i dont know the best to go for. I mostly Record Metal, and rap(bleh). i have a PreSonus digimax96k preamp and Great River 1nv.
