Mackie Onyx 1640 w/ firewire option, any complaints?

I recently discovered this mixer and it blows me away reading the manual and stuff. It would make a great mixer for both live and in the studio. 16 channels straight to a computer through firewire, oh man I would love to record live shows like that. Ultimately I think this is what I'm saving up for. Does anyone dislike this mixer or have any comments on it?

Digi 002 with Pro Tools or Mackie universal/onyx w/ sonar

I will be using highly equipped new PC for strictly recording. and what kind of preamps (with a nice price) can you ad to the digi 002 since it only has 4 and I may need from 6-8 when recording drums. Thanks alot

Macki Onyx 1640 with FireWire Card

I'm new to the forum, but have already learned a lot this week as I've been reading. I'm preparing to start a PC-based Recoring studio that will be used to record many multi-track groups (Church choirs, Church worship bands, Small Church Orchestras, etc.). I have been looking for reviews on the Mackie Onyx 1640 and have only found a couple through the Mackie website.

Mackie onyx800R

Hi all,

has anyone had any first hand experience with the Mackie onyx 8 ch pre, I know its still kinda new, thought I'd ask anyway, I'm gonna need an 8 ch pre soon, for the bucks it doesnt seem too bad, not the best, but not the worst!

or, anyone got any recomendations for an 8 ch solid state pre?
Nothing too over the top price wise.

A/D Converter/Mackie ONYX Questions

I am looking to get a better A/D interface; I currently have the M-Audio OMNI Rack. I would really like to get the Apogee AD-16X! What are some converters that are a notch below the Apogee converters-MOTU, RME, etc? I have gotten suggestions to check out the RME stuff because of the quality to price factor of their products.
