Need help finding overheads
I'm trying to find a pair of small condensers that are suited for studio use as overheads and the like, but also have practical use as live sound overheads.
a few to note:

snare drum troubles.(overheads make up for bad snare sound?)
it seems the majority of my snare recordings are junk. heh. ive been recording the same snare for the past 3 years, well the same kit for that matter... just got new cymbals last year though.. but anyways.. its a 14 x 6.5 ludwig supraphonic. it sounds real awesome live, and ive spent lots of time tuning, and always upkeep on that stuff... so i know it sounds good in person at least.

Best overhead pair for under $1000?
Right now I'm looking at SDC's like the oktava mod MK012's, the Peluso CEMC6, maybe a used set of Neumann KM184's, AKG c451, and Shure SM81's. I have no idea what to get. There's no way I'm going to be able to try all of them out so I was hoping someone in here could tell me which mics they've had good experiences with.

Matched Overheads for 600bucks?
So, I've been posting a lot here, and I apologize if I'm hogging the board, but I'm really enjoying being able to bounce ideas off of other engineers/musicians/producers.

compression settings for overhead mics
just wondering what the general view is on compressing the overhead drum mics during tracking. Necessary?,Stupid?,Imperative?
I realize that its mostly a matter of opinion and taste, but if anybody has any input or suggested threshold/ratio-attack/release settings theyd like to share id dig it very much.

positioning of overheads
Hi Guys,
My question is mainly in regards to spaced pair.
The more I read about OH drum Micing the more I read that both mics should be the same distance away from the snare drum to avoid any phasing problems and keep the snare in the centre of the stereo image.

Reducing overhead on MAC
first post woot woot
I’m just getting into recording and am in a little class where we talked about tuning tips for PC’s to decrease overhead, etc., and tips for maintaining your DAW. But I have a new Macbook. I’m new to Apple, so I know little about them, and my teacher knows nothing about recording with them.

Help decide on OVERHEADS! CAD M179?
This is what I'm looking for in my price range, around 3-400 bucks. I want a good condensor (most likley be getting a matched pair) to cover overheads on a kit, maybe also decent for vocals and room mics.
