To Power Off Or Not?
I just wanted to hear some opinions on whether it is better to leave your gear on all the time or power down nightly?
I have a Mac & Monitor, Pro Tools TDM, A/D - D/A Interfaces, Powered Monitors, Outbaord Gear, Headphone Amps, DAT Machines, Mic Pre's (Tube and Solid State), Tube mics, etc. etc. etc.

Power buzz when recording
I'm trying to record live stuff, and I'm plugin my laptop inito the same place ans the board(Yamaha o2R96...it's awesome) and I'm using a home version of Sound Forge(it sucks. I want the full version). I'm using an RCA to 1/8" cable to the input on my Dell Inspiron 8200. For some reason, I still am getting a buzz from the power.

event monitors power hum
Hi---
I recently built an isolated piece of furniture for my CPU. and sent it a few feet away from my control room. Silence is golden and I now enjoy it.
However, there is a hum in my Event 20/20 bas that is constant whenever they're powered. This hum was always there but never bothered me, but now with no CPU noise, it became more noticeable.

G5 Power Supply Problem
Don't really have a question, but I think the current power supply/noise problem makes for a great discussion. If anybody hasn't been keeping up on this issue, the gist is that the power supplies included with the new dual G5 power macs are so noisey they're spilling over into the analog audio outs.

Rack Mount Phantom Power + Phase Reverse
Does anybody know about a rack mountable unit that will provide phantom power AND phase reverse switching functions? My Aardvark Q10 does not have phase reverse capability.
I looked at the Little Labs device, but it is not what I'm searching for, plus the price is too high. I need a rope and tire solution, not a gilded lilly.

Use mic's own phantom power or pre's?
I'm using an AKG Solidtube microphone which comes with it's own phantom power supply.
My pre also has phantom power available which I can turn on or off. Should I continue to use the AKG's own supply unit (figuring that it's likely better calibrated to the mic) or am I just introducing another layer of unecessary hardware into the chain?

monitor power amp
i have a pair of event 20/20 monitors and i am hoping that i could get some recommendations for a power amp for them. i am buying several items right now and i am looking to get something adequate in the $200, new or used, range that would work until until i can upgrade (monitors and amp). i know that the nominal impedence is 4 ohms and 150 watts programable and 200 watts peak.

Can phantom power destroy inputs?
Have a problem on my Tascam US 224 where I suddenly lost all input signal on my XLR and line inputs.
This hapened right after I connected my RODE NT1 to the unit, via an external phantom power supply that was already switched on.
The volume ouput on the soundcard was set at zero, but one trim pot was set at maximum.
