Description

A preamplifier, also known as a preamp, is an electronic amplifier that converts a weak electrical signal into an output signal strong enough to be noise-tolerant and strong enough for further processing, or for sending to a power amplifier and a loudspeaker. Without this, the final signal would be noisy or distorted.

Reel To Reel Preamp

I was reading in a thread about people using reel-to-reel machines for preamps. I have a Teac A-4010 SL with

2 1/4" inputs in the front (left & right)
a headphones out in the front
RCA ins/outs and a DIN in/out on the back

Could/should this be used for a preamp and how? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

4 or 8 Mic Preamps and A/D

Having started out with a PC and as Tascan US-122 which has two mic inputs I'd now like to increase the number of mic inputs available to me.

I realise that, because of sync problems, I can't just buy more US-122s so I need a package that includes either as many A/D channels as I would ever want in one package, or can sync with word clock.

Need a cheap preamp for talk-back mic

I've got a Tascam FW-1082 with the headphone output going into a Samson C-Que headphone distribution amp. I want to add a talk-back mic without sacrificing any of the board's 8 inputs.

The C-Que has an additional inject input that mixes with the stereo outs from the board. I'd like to add a preamp and mic there. I tried it with one of my other preamps and it works well.
