Hi everyone, Im new to this and need some help here. I wanted to know whats the real need of a preamp?

I am fullfilling the dream of my life, I come from a little town in Bolivia (south america) and from a family very poor, I made my way to America when I was 18, since then I have been working on several jobs and traying to make my way up. Well right now I am 27 and have almost my first semi professional home studio, I have been always facinated with the acoustics and sounds.

Can anyone with experience with these units give a non bias opinion of how they match up. Which one is better and why you have your opinion etc...Thanks guys

How good is the M-Audio Duo Preamp compared to other pres in it's price range ( $200-300).
I have one to try out, I'm using it on vocals with an Audio Tech 4033 mic and a Zoom mulitrack recorder.

hi guys, i'm slowly nutting out exactly what stuff i want for my studio, and in terms of mic preamps, there's a lot of "must have" vintage classics, but i don't see a lot of discussion on nice clean modern units. so i was wondering what you guys consider the ultimate pre of this kind. the one i was considering was the Avalon ad2022, but i've since heard some bad things about it.

hello i m looking to buy a mic preamp to warm up my vocal tracks or acoustic guit track i m willing to spend $ 300 to 400 used or new
any coments?
i know some of you will say that i should invest more money into it but that s all i have at the moment

What are the quality of the preamps on the Emu 1820M? How would they compare with something like M-Audio DMP3? Is it likely that the 1616M will have the same preamps? Thanks

I'm having troubles interfacing a UA 2-610 stereo tube pre with my PC DAW's Audio Interface (Layla 24/96.)

Ive been listening to country music lately,and I must say,I really love the quality of the vocals .
My question is,what preamps,and comps are the high-endstudios using to get that real nice,thick, rich,round,up frt ?

Im in the process of getting rid of a lot of "rack-Crap",and saving my $$$ to get a Preampcompressor,that gives me that tone on Vocals 8-)

So I've got a few outboard preamps. I'm thinking of getting the Digidesign 002 with built in pres into the console. Is there a problem with preamping my mic's through the outboard preamp and then sending that signal through the consoles preamp? Essentially double preamping. Anyone have an opinion... or fact?
