Has anyone heard pat morford's mic preamp?
I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this mic preamp. I called him asking if he had any quad eight mic preamps and he claims that his mic preamp kit is better than the quad eights, neve, telefunken. I was just wondering if anybody has ever heard it. And if they have, is it true, or is that a bogus statement?

mic preamp quality
Is there a "significant" difference in sound quality between a bottom of the line mic preamp(ART tube opl-$100) vs. something like a $300-500 range preamp?

mic & mic preamp combos
Hello all, I'm looking to step up the quality of my recordings. I do mostly acoustic guitar and vocals and have been looking at the studio projects T3, since we dont know when the Stephen Paul mics will arrive. For preamps, Im looking at the Great River MP2NV, the John Hardy M1 and the Chandler TG2. any suggestions?

How much of a preamp's tone is reduced when it's run a
Is running my cheap-ass mackie's mic preamps at unity gain going to reduce the affect they have on the tone of the input in any way?
Naturally, I'm going to avoid this whenever I can, but how close does leaving a preamp at unity gain correspond to a true bypass scenario?

Sebatron Preamps - Really F-ing Happy
With the vmp-2000e's I got a few weeks ago. The pads allow an amazing range of sounds to come out of this box. I can't believe how much my sound quality has improved, even with the crappy mics I use (next thing to upgrage). Kurt was right, invest in pre's that don't suck. These really can do colored and uncolored sounds. Unbelieveible. I wish I had more of em! But alas I am poor!
