So I'm thinking about trying out soundtrack pro because of the ease of use between it and final cut 2, which is what my video editor uses.

it might not even be with Pro Tools and just the external HD i have. and I'm not super saavy with computers. BUT! when i try and start a new session or open up a session saved on my external HD it won't open it.

I'm currently planning to upgrade from a PreSonus Firepod DAW to a Pro Tools DAW... but man is Pro Tools confusing! I'm trained in operating Pro Tools, but I am having a hard time figuring out the actual hardware componments.

Can you use VST plugins with Pro Tools or does it rely on RTAS plugins?

I ask as I was speaking to one of my lecturers at college last week about his studio that he has, which he uses Logic as the DAW, just to get his opinion on what he prefered working with and he mentioned he liked both but prefered logic only because pro tools used a different format for plugins.

I'm designing a recording studio for commercial applications, and was wondering what the strengths and weaknesses of Logic Studio, Pro Tools LE, and Pro Tools HD were.

Alright. This blows my mind that I haven't been able to figure this out yet. Scenario:

My friends and I built a nice little studio in the back shed of one of our homes. It has come together very nice, and we are looking to buy some new stuff.
We were running Cubase LE, but the one of us with actual money to throw around doesn't like it and is hellbent on switching over to Pro Tools (which he already bought for us) and is now going to get the Command 8.

I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong spot, but I just got pro tools, and I'm trying to find a good book or DVD for it. Does anybody have any suggestions? I've figured out all the very basics, but I still don't feel completely comfortable yet. Any help would be awesome!

Im looking at upgrading my computer to a G5 and I was wondering which one would get the job done. Should i go with a 1.8ghz or like a 2.5ghz? Right now I'm just using my mbox to record a few ideas for my band but i would like to have a home studio and eventually start a business out of it.
