A producer is the person responsible for finding and launching a project; arranging financing financing; hiring writers, a director, and key members of the creative team; and overseeing all elements of pre-production, production and post-production, right up to release.

questions about a producer of my songs

I've completed 11 songs and planning to record a demo. I'm not the best guitar player so I called a person to play for me by the hour. I told him we need to get together and go over before going to the studio. He mentioned co-writing and wanted to record at a friends studio. I explained I only needed a player for some rhythm. He mentioned being the producer of my songs.

How to make a producer deal?

I'm going to produce/engineer a 7'' EP of a band which isn't signed by any record label and either I'm not a member of any association. This CD is going to be sold on the market and sent to a record company in order that the band will get a deal. What must I do in order to protect myself and the band in order to get my royalties and prevent a typical possible rookie problem called RIP-OFF?

Andrew WK / Ministry vocal sound

OKay, anyone that disses me for liking the Andrew WK "I Get Wet" record can lick my prostrate. That being said, what kind of vocal effect is used to achieve this sound? Specifically. I get close results with a harmonizer (Micro Pitch Shift on the H3000) and 6 voice choirs (480L with an effect car. Anyone? Mike Shipley mixed his ass off on this record.

Disturbing Opinion from Producer

A band I've been tracking for brought in their producer this week to get his input. We've tracked 12 songs so far, and I'm disturbed by his critque which was that the drums and bass gtr and acoustic gtr sound great, but the vox and elec gTRS should have been compressed hard to tape (actually Mackie HDR). I love the drums and bass sounds myself, and I'm pleased that he did too.
