I will be recording a death metal band soon and they want the electronic "bass drops" and "backward, shimmering cymbal" sounds to accompany their music. Where can I get these sounds from?

The guy at the local GC said that I need to buy the entire Battery program from Waves, however I am sure that there is a better way to them than that.

I'm recording a heavy rock band live in a rehearsal hall. We only have it for alimited amount of time this Saturday. It's going to be a 12 song live work tape. The band's real tight so that's going to make it real eazy. But the drummer is a real cymbal basher. This is going to be a frist for me,(recording a extremely hard playing drummer) .

I thought it would nifty to paint my cymbals to match my drumset...

how do you think this would affect the sound and performance of the cymbals?

What type of compressor do you think is better suited for compression of cymbals (crash-pang cymbals).

I tracked some drums recently, and the cymbals came out really 'wishy washy' for lack of a better term. Not sure how to explain it, but it's basically the sound changing from the cymbal rocking back and forth on it's stand.

ok when recording drums is there a certain way to record the ride cymbol when you hit a ride cymbol they tend to sustain a lot but when you hear perfessional recordings the ride never sustains it sounds like just a hit and thats it, do they put like black tape to help the sustain or what?

My first set of cymbals are getting pretty worn out, so I'm looking to buy some new ones. The ones I'm using now are Zildjian ZBTs(basically bottom of the line) I'm looking to spend about $400 on a new set of cymbals, and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I'm looking for just a basic set really...a crash or two, a ride, and high-hats.

Hello.This is my first post here.
I've got a Roland VS-2480CD,and have started attempting to record better drum tracks for my tunes.
My kick drum and 3 toms are miced with Digital Reference mics.
The snare and hi-hat have a Shure SM58 stuck in between them.
There is a Behringer B-1 condenser up high and centered,as an overhead.
